New Procedure – Apheresis

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Cellulogix International is proud to announce the launch of the new adult stem cell treatment procedure referred to as “Apheresis” methodology.  This procedure involves the extraction of stem cells and Mononuclear cells from peripheral blood utilizing an Apheresis instrument, reconditioning the extracted cells on site and injection of the reconditioned cells back into the patient.

This procedure is an effective method of treatment for several conditions including autoimmune disorders.  It is also used as an adjunct to our existing stem cell treatment protocols. Additionally, it has anti-aging applications.

New Lumbar Puncture Procedure

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Traditionally, patients with spinal cord injuries have had few treatment options to regain movement and felling. Advances in the field of regenerative medicine offer hope of improved quality of life and independence to patients with complete and incomplete spinal cord injuries. Stem cell therapy introduces new cells into the body which target specific areas and replace damaged cells.

At Cellulogix International we have set up a specialized protocol to treat patients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disorders such as ALS, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s. We offer a unique treatment combining injections through a sterile spinal catheter that implants the cells directly into the spinal column, and throughout the areas of disease and the spinal cord. Two subsequent IV stem cell treatments are repeated over a six day period, combined with light physical therapy and post treatment supplement enhancers to promote stem cell proliferation.

Our team of board certified surgeons follow a strict patient specific protocol in administration of stem cells as well as post treatment physical therapy. This new lumbar puncture procedure is currently performed by our highly skilled team at our global network of treatment centers. Post-stem cell treatment, patients are asked to submit regular examinations, MRI, PET scan and laboratory tests so we can monitor their progress.

To find out more about this new procedure of delivering stem cells in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and other neurological and neurodegenerative conditions, please contact our office at (818)597-9111 or (877)STEM-123 to book a consultation with one of our Consulting Physicians, contact our headquarters.

Autism

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Children who are diagnosed with autism generally have problems in three crucial areas of brain development characterized by impairment of social interaction, language, and repetitive or restricted behavior.

According to a report published on WebMD.com (January 8, 2009), autism in California has increased eightfold in the last ten years.

The symptoms of autism vary. The most severe form of is marked by a complete inability to communicate or interact with others. Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) includes related conditions with less severe cognitive impairment.

Exposure to toxins in the environment can be related to autism, especially if a child is genetically predisposed to this disorder. Children with autism are often found to have high amounts of heavy metals in their systems.

There are numerous chemicals in the environment that we’re exposed to on a daily basis including:  hormones and antibiotics in food, pesticides, unhealthy air and drinking water, car exhaust, plastics containing dangerous chemicals, certain medications and drugs.

Some types of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) found in electrical equipment, fluorescent lighting, and other products; produce developmental neurotoxins. While they are no longer produced in the U.S. the substance can still be detected in the environment.

Since children are more sensitive to chemicals, chronic intake of certain substances can be harmful to their health. Children at risk or who have ASD may be especially vulnerable because their ability to metabolize and detoxify certain substance is compromised.

Cellulogix International takes a holistic approach in the treatment of children with autism and is committed to learning all that we can about your child.  You can begin the process by filling out a detailed general questionnaire.

Autoimmune Diseases

Multiple sclerosis
Lupus
Crohn’s disease
Arthritis
Scleroderma
Myasthenia Gravis

Autoimmune disease refers to a group of conditions present in patients who develop an overactive immune response against their own tissues, and/or against substances that are normally present in the body.

In some cases, specific auto-antibodies have been identified that can be measured in the blood and shown to be responsible for the destruction of the normal cells, such as the antibodie anti-myelin in multiple sclerosis (the rheumatoid factor in rheumatoid arthritis). In other conditions, the destruction of the cells is directly operated by abnormal cells of the immune system.

At present, clinical trials using peripheral blood stem cells are being conducted worldwide for patients diagnosed with lupus, scleroderma, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune arthritis, Crohn’s disease, primary biliary cirrhosis and other autoimmune diseases.

High doses of drugs are used to suppress the immune system. They are usually given prior to undergoing cell therapy through apheresis and the reintroduction of peripheral blood stem cells into the blood.

Recently, results have  shown  that these treatments seem to induce sustained remission of the disease in a majority of patients, even if they were not responsive to conventional treatments.

For some conditions, a combination of both peripheral blood stem cells and umbilical cord blood stem cells might be preferred as they increase the efficacy of the treatment to “reset” the immune system to a more normal level.

Cell therapy is combined with a comprehensive holistic approach. The entire treatment takes five days to complete and includes lifestyle and diet recommendations, personalized natural supplements, a prescription for neuron support, and light physical therapy.

Patients are followed up at regular intervals, post stem cell therapy to monitor their progress.
