Letter from a Patient’s Physical Therapist

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Frank O.

Age: 69

Diagnosis: Primary Lateral Sclerosis

Treatment Date: June 2008 (2nd treatment)

Type of Treatment: Lumbar Puncture

Dear Dr. Nabavi:

Over the last year Frank has made remarkable gains in nearly all areas measured.  However, he has yet to see any gains in ankle movement.  Most notable progress continued for up to 6 months after receiving his stem cell treatment in January.  Since the 6th month mark he has been able to maintain in the majority of gains.  Even though many areas saw a plateau at 6 months, his gross lower extremity strength and functional mobility have continued to improve.  As noted by the measurement grid, he is now able to ambulate for 300 feet using a straight cane.  His functional mobility continues to be limited by low back pain but trunk stability has also shown improvement over the year, which has helped with increased ambulation.

It has been exciting to watch Frank’s progress over the years.  Despite continual therapy there was a documented decline over the last few years.  Now I see a man reclaiming his independence through function gained by your stem cell therapy.

Carl M.

Age: 37

Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis

Date of Treatment: Sept. 24, 2008

Type of Treatment: Lumbar Puncture

One word to describe treatment and our care while in Mexico is “AMAZING”.  No matter what we wanted it was provided, from the moment we were picked up at the airport until we were taken back for our trip home.

Carl has most improved in his cognitive area.  He is able to hold a conversation and speak in complete sentences to express himself.  He sleeps well and eats even better.  His attitude is good.  His legs seem a little stronger.

This trip and treatment has been a blessing to our family.

New International Clinic Opening

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Cellulogix International and Dr. Casey Nabavi are pleased to announce the recent opening of a clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, where stem cell treatments via IV, subcutaneous injections, and lumbar puncture have been successfully completed. In early 2009, treatment centers will be opening in Berlin, Germany; Moscow, Russia; and Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Dr. Casey Nabavi has been working tirelessly to open clinics globally to make available stem cell treatments to patients worldwide and advance stem cell research.

Apheresis Methodology

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Cellulogix International is proud to announce the launch of the new adult stem cell treatment procedure referred to as “Apheresis” methodology.

This procedure involves the extraction of stem cells and Mononuclear cells from peripheral blood utilizing an Apheresis instrument, reconditioning the extracted cells on site and injection of the reconditioned cells back into the patient. This procedure is an effective method of treatment for several conditions including autoimmune disorders.  It is also used as an adjunct to our existing stem cell treatment protocols. Additionally, it has anti-aging applications.

New Clinics – Coming Soon

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Dr Casey Nabavi, together with our business development team has been hard at work finalizing agreements for a number of new clinics and treatment centers around the world.  With increasing numbers of patients requesting stem cell treatment in countries closer to their own we strive to open more centers in more major cities across the globe.  We will however continue to monitor all new clinics and treatment centers closely to ensure specific patient protocols are strictly followed in all cases.  Follow up consultations will continue to be scheduled by the administrative offices at Montreal and Los Angeles.

The following locations will soon be announced open and ready to implement stem cell treatment;

  • Berlin, Germany
  • Guatemala City, Guatemala
  • Moscow, Russia

What Are Stem Cells?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Stem cells are the primordial cells in the human body. The first stem cells occur inside a developing embryo (blastocytes). These stem cells are understood to be totipotent, meaning that they are capable of differentiating into every cell type. They divide, differentiate, and ultimately construct the entire human body.

Stem cell therapy involves the introduction of healthy new stem cells to, potentially, repair, and replace damaged or lost cells. This new technique is being applied to treat a wide range of human conditions, including many types of cancer, infectious diseases like AIDS and hepatitis, diabetes, heart, lung, kidney diseases, many diseases of the eyes like macular degeneration or retinitis pigmentosa, as well as neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries. It is also used to treat skin disorders and aging.

Multiple Sclerosis

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that progressively leads to the deterioration of the central nervous system. The production of abnormal auto antibodies slowly destroys the myelin sheath that protects the nerves in the white matter, interfering with the communication between the brain and the body.

As the disease evolves the destruction of the nerves becomes irreversible with varying grades of axon loss. It effects an estimated 350,000 -500,000 people in the United States.

The range and severity of symptoms are extremely broad and depend on the location and the amount of damage along the nerves. Patients describe numbness, weakness in their limbs, general fatigue, dizziness an unsteady gait, vision problems, speech difficulties, progressive cognitive impairment and memory loss.

At the onset, symptoms may disappear for months before the disease relapses (Remitting Relapsing MS). After time, the remission periods become less frequent, and as nerve damage advances, symptom-free periods are eliminated.

Current treatments have focused on limiting the destructive effects of the autoimmune and inflammatory processes and decreasing the intensity of the symptoms. Unfortunately, and despite the body’s efforts to try to restore remyelination, it is not sufficient to prevent the development of serious neurological disabilities.

Recent laboratory studies demonstrate that some populations of stem cells are able to repair the myelin damages along the nerves, and at the same time reset the immune response to a more normal condition. Stem cell based clinical trials for multiple sclerosis are limited, however the potential benefits of cell therapy for myelin repair seem extremely promising. As a result, the use of treatments for MS patients is likely to increase rapidly in the near future.

Cellulogix offers cell therapy for multiple sclerosis that includes both umbilical cord blood stem cell treatment and/ or stem cell aphaeresis with the use of stem cells collected from your peripheral blood.

Cell therapy is combined with a holistic comprehensive approach. The entire treatment takes five days to complete and includes lifestyle and diet recommendations as well as personalized natural supplement prescriptions for neuron support and light physical therapy exercises.

Post-treatment, patients are asked to submit regular neurological examinations; MRI, PET scan of the brain, and other laboratory tests, so we can monitor their progress.
